Connecting BlackTrack to time-aid You can start managing your mobile activity data from your desktop as soon as you connect BlackTrack. This process takes only a few minutes. Depending on the level of security your organization possesses, there are two different methods to choose from:

1. Direct Access (Cloud Computing) In this method, mobile activity data is sent to time-aid on your desktop computer using cloud-based computing; whereby computation of data transmission is carried out using time-aid servers. The data is encrypted and then pushed down securely to the time-aid application in real-time. The advantage in using this method is that you are not required to manually synch your BlackBerry with your desktop computer before the data is made accessible to you. Data transfer is in real-time.

Suitable for companies whose work environment is relatively open and have unrestricted access to external networks

2. Email Access (Indirect) Users whose organization’s firewalls limit access to external networks should use this connection method if the previous method; Direct Access (Cloud Computing) does not allow the transfer mobile activity from BlackTrack to time-aid.

In this method, BlackTrack mobile activity data is retrieved by time-aid indirectly using an email data transfer. More specifically, this method of connectivity requires an email address to which BlackTrack will send emails containing mobile activity to and then subsequently push them to time-aid where they will be decoded into mobile activity data entries in the mobile connections tab of time-aid. This method requires a little more work up front however access to data is just as reliable as the previous method, follow these steps to get connected:

Step 1 Create a new gmail account used specifically for the purpose of data transfer. Do not use an existing email address since this data transfer email address will be inundated with emails containing your BlackBerry activity data.

Step 2 Enter your new email address into the Email field in BlackTrack’s Advanced

Step 3 *This section is incomplete until the layout of BlackTrack is finalized.

Suitable for companies whose work environment is closed or potentially have more restricted access to external data sources.
